I have a new release! It’s called Ictus Parati: Music for Prepared Piano and Other Percussion
We were getting rid of our old piano because it was huge and wouldn’t stay in tune. Before saying goodbye, I decided to spend a day recording stuff. I stuck screws and cardboard and cat toys and castanets and paperclips in, on, around, and behind the strings. I then recorded for several hours, sometimes with a metronome and coherent ideas. Sometimes with neither. This was very pleasing.
I then spend time between mid-April and August editing, overdubbing the other stuff, and adding shape to the ideas I tracked.
Then I stopped. Now you listen.
I think the result is a perfect summation of my interior life, and as such I remain confused and alarmed by the details. I hope you enjoy it!
