My latest singer-songwriter art-pop album is on all the streaming platforms today!
I’m very proud of this music, had a ton of fun making it, and think you might enjoy these 10 songs. I was inspired by Talking Heads, 80s Genesis and harnessed my pent up desire to write songs in the mold of my songwriter stuff and the poppier side of Opposite Day which I hadn’t done for more than a year. Everything was written in a weekend in December and finished recording/mixing Jan-Feb. Kinda cerebral but I”m pretty sure there’s some humanity in there. When I wrote these songs, real life was a bit more abstract than it has become in the past few weeks, but I stand by what I said with these songs 3 months ago.
Unusually for me, I used no electric guitar or other people to create this music. Just voice, acoustic guitar, bass, synth, and lots of percussion both organic and electronic. New Steven Slate drum sampler was super fun to play with my fingers – I got a little indulgent there.
