Friday 2/7: new music on Bandcamp

Please enjoy my exploration of a day in the life of a non-specific transcendent entity expressed as a kaleidoscopic journey through pop, funk, jazz, metal, prog, surf, and latin styles. Origin story: Last June I wrote a single 17 minute song for my Patreon supporters. They got an early complete version then, but I kept working on it, and now i want to share it with everyone (and them again too).

The process started with improvising piano and vocal over a click track for 17 minutes, and then spent the rest of the creative process just thinking about lyrics, melodies, what to repeat, what to add and subtract, trying different tones, etc. My wife Laura suggested doing a long song, and i got some of the conceptual ideas from Katie O’Niel. I think I also was inspired by Peter Stopschinski’s opera Stop Hitting Yourself, which I was playing bass for at the time. Marlo Fischer had posted an image of this weird looking toy so I asked her if I could use the image for the cover since the themes kinda match.
