I’ve started a Patreon page.

I’ve started a Patreon Page! It’s here.

What is this?

  • I release a minimum of 15 minutes worth of beautiful, mixed, mastered new original music (and occasional classy covers) on the 1st of every month.
  • You give me as little as $3 a month to get a download of it. Patreon bills you and pays me until you say stop. I’m supposed to say that’s “half a tall macchiato” or something.
  • This music will all be available elsewhere anyway so no pressure. Everything will be released on Bandcamp and probably SoundCloud as well in case that’s your thing. Most of it should also be available for streaming on all the normal places.
  • The music releases you get for your patronage will include upcoming Opposite Day studio releases, Jazz Perturbers studio recordings, my upcoming singer-songwriter pop album, and other ideas and fun collaborations in the works.
  • I’ll put out other content probably maybe, but the crux of it is you basically get minimum, a half of a full length album once a month. Fun, right?

Why do you wanna do this?

  • You will be supporting creative recorded music which in my opinion is the second highest form of art (after elaborate lies about dinosaurs).
  • You will get to hear that music which will sound even better because of your support.
  • You will be helping me collaborate and get my collaborators paid. I collaborate with nice and professional people who are the kind of people who should have a little more money sometimes.

Why do I wanna do this?

  • I recently have no day job and have recently put together a home studio space that allows me to deliver quality recordings at lower cost.
  • I want to release a bunch of music but figuring out how to promote it is holding some of it back. I thought a subscription/patronage model might provide just enough structure to make it happen.
  • I love love love making recordings with my friends and by myself and enjoy doing so within a structure. I’m the kind of artist who thrives on deadlines. And coffee. And fear.
  • If I make a little bit of money on original music, I can pay my collaborators (other musicians and visual artists) and cover other expenses like web hosting and music production costs. Mostly I’ll be paying for my overhead and paying other creative people. Any money left over for me I’ll spend supporting other independent original music. If I make a LOT of money, I might spend some on food for the live dinosaur in my attic.
  • I’m looking for interaction, fun, and admittedly – attention. This isn’t a living. I just left a good job after 17 and ⅓ years, my wife works, and if things get really tight we can sell tickets to see the dinosaur in the attic. So I’m gonna do the music I wanna do with or without your help. But it will be soooo much more fun if you join the party.
